ABOUT: I created the music in close collaboration with the Athelas Sinfonietta and the Birmingham Electronic Music Studio, and used the electronics to explore the specific sound and the musicality of the ensemble. Through recording sessions with each participating musician, I consciously let the musical personality of the individual shine through both through instrumental improvisations and personal interviews. An electronic sound bank was created with the materials from these recording sessions which were later used in the live electronics. Composed material is mixed with improvised solos where the musicians interact with an electronic “sound pool patch”, and occasionally fragments of the musicians voices intervene.
